Smartphones and other devices are good as long as they have a fully charged battery. But, once they have hit the bottom, you are in trouble. And usually this happens when you badly need your devices. In fact, that was the story behind the battery system, along with the power cord, and the power pad.
As a business person, our CEO, Doug Monahan travels a lot meaning that his devices should be always fully charged. Even more, he was traveling around Austin, Texas on business calls many times and his iPhone battery often died. He thought that a Mozy device can solve the problem. But, even after purchasing a Mozy device and enhanced protective case for his iPhone with additional battery power, it didnâ€™t last throughout the day. It was that moment when Doug realized that the backpack is an ideal deviceÂ for an extremely powerful battery that would have the capability to recharge both his iPhone and Pad a the same time.
He continued with research, and soon was able to find that were not only powerful enough to charge his own iPhone and iPad, but those of up to three friends. Why should someone pay for fancy packaging such as the Mozy provides when the backpack itself is filled with space to store such a battery? But, batteries cannot long last. They have to be charged at some point. Thinking how to recharge all devices, and the internal battery, he realized that the Hoover vacuum cleaner uses a retractable power cord. He thought that the same technology/system could be incorporated into the iBackPack. It would need to be shorter – of course – perhaps 4 to 6 feet at most, Â and thinner than most vacuum cleaners in order to save weight. Thatâ€™s how the problem of the charging was solved.
Very often, when we come home from work or school we feel too lazy to put our device on the charger. We just drop our stuff immediately on the floors and we go straight to bed. So, plugging the devices for charging is the most difficult job at that time. And then we thought what if there was a power pad, roughly the size of home plate on a baseball field that would be able to take advantage of wireless electricity transmission and thus automatically charge all of the components in the backpack individually, as well as the internal iBackPack primary battery? Thatâ€™s what Doug would like – and not just him, but everyone else.
